Dominique

Dominique has been a resident of the City of Brampton for over 20 years and has been working in Children's mental health for 27 years.
Both Dominique and her husband have two children that have graduated from DPCDSB schools. Dominique credits her personal and professional experience raising and working with children with mental health and diverse learning needs to her passion and advocacy around removing barriers and creating opportunities for all students to succeed.
Dominique has witnessed first-hand the relevance of Catholic Education and how it has prepared her children, our students, for the 21st century world. This has ignited her desire to be an advocate for Catholic Education which, with your support, she would continue to do in the role of Trustee. Catholic Education is often being challenged: Dominique believes she can be the strong voice needed to advocate for Catholic Education.
Dominique graduated from York University with her Honours Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She is a registered Social Worker employed in a hospital based Child and Adolescent Urgent Response program.
Experience
Dominique is recognized in the DPCDSB community for her commitment to Catholic Education. For 16 years, she has volunteered in various roles, supporting Catholic School Council initiatives at her children’s schools. However, her desire to step up and advocate on behalf of parents, students and Catholic education is what led her to being elected to the position of Vice Chair (served two years) of the Central Committee for Catholic School Councils (CCCSC) and the position of Chair of CCCSC (serving 3 years). Dominique has also demonstrated her commitment to the Catholic faith as a Lector at her parish.
Lastly, she has participated in the DPCDSB Black Community Advisory Council (BCAC) which is committed to addressing and eliminating anti-Black racism in education.Dominique’s fervor for mental health and student well-being is deeply connected to her 27-year career working in Children’s Mental Health. It is here that she has been provided with insight into the challenges students and families face.Dominique continues to volunteer on committees that support our students. She is the co-chair of the Brampton School Traffic Safety Council that strives to improve student and pedestrian safety around schools in Brampton and make recommendations to the City and other agencies.
Her passion for advancing women in the municipal landscape has found her elected as co-chair of the Brampton Women’s Advisory Committee who advise Brampton City Council on issues affecting women and help advance gender equity and inclusion across the municipality. Lastly, she is a member of the Brampton Community Safety Committee representing Wards 2 and 6. At this table, Dominique's role is to advise Brampton City Council on community safety and well-being issues, raise awareness of local safety concerns, and help promote actions that make Brampton safer for residents.
